Who we are and what we do

Foundation Gaudium is a Non-profit Organization devoted since 1997 to the study of non-chemical addictions, with main focus on addictions to new technologies and safer use of the Internet, mobile phones and videogames and pathological gambling, including online gaming.
Foundation Gaudium main activities are scientific meetings, research projects, epidemiological studies, publications, awareness raising activities, preventive programs, helplines for affected people and training of experts.

Safer Internet and Prevention of Addictions among adolescents

Gaudium Foundation promotes research and develops preventive programs, awareness raising activities for a safer use of the Internet and treatment of addiction to new technologies studying its causes and consequences, treatment techniques, training of specialists and design and implementation of preventive measures, especially addressing children and adolescents at risk. Materials such as guides for parents and teachers have been produced and are available both online and offline.
Five years ago Gaudium Foundation started a leading program in Spain aiming to prevent the healthy and safer use of Internet, mobile phones and videogames among minors and their families. This program, financed by the Regional Government of Madrid, is being implemented in Primary Education Schools and has reached 36.000 children and parents. Since then, the Foundation's activities have expanded all over Spain. Our experts are invited to give lectures and workshops in schools and comunities addressing children, parents, teachers and other proffessionals woking in this field.
The foundation provides a HELP LINE available for children and families affected by the risks of online activities, such as cyberbullying, harmful contents and ilicit conducts. This conselling is provided by psychologists and lawyers in collaboration with the Clinical Unit of the Psychology Masters Degree of the Psychology Faculty at the University Complutense of Madrid.
Besides conferences and scientific meetings, our foundation ellaborates every year a publication with the most recent research and developments in this field.
As part of our mission, we are interested and active in developing liaisons and projects of cooperation with other national and international organizations with similar interests.
